Stratford St Andrew Church, Suffolk

Stratford St Andrew Church one of our most unique projects to date, certainly the most precious was completed in summer 2006.

The former parish church built in the 12th century when Henry I was on the throne and the tower of London newly completed was in a state of ill repair and in an unsafe condition until a developer saw potential in the property.

His vision was to turn an Ancient grade I listed building into a modern living space. After many knock backs and confabs with the council and planning office permission was granted and the restoration began.

The church has a Norman nave and a 45ft tower not to mention gargoyles and battlements, all features which had to be integrated into the ancient meets modern design.

A big project to embark on for M Y Group a church 900 years our senior. A project that had been started by A N Other contractor, M Y were thrilled to be a part of. Starting on site in July 2005 and finishing in July 2006 the church undertook a vast renovation.

The church made of 4ft thick flint walls has been transformed into a contemporary four bed family home painted white throughout, simply tiled and carpeted with glass finishing’s.

The church now has a grand entrance hall and a galleried living area on the 1^st Floor looking over the kitchen diner in the churches chancel. A chancel which is home to the memorial of local Dyana Wayth who died in 1756.

Fully equipped with a guest suite on the ground floor and three further bedrooms on the 1^st floor this once place of worship is now a fully functioning family home.

Adjacent to the newly renovated church stands the new Vicarage, which too was started by others, but completed by M Y.

This Vicarage a modern brick built family home with four bedrooms built in the grounds of the church. This spacious modern new build was completed using all contemporary materials. Adjacent to the vicarage is a block of three shared garages between the church and the vicarage.

Both the vicarage and the church are equip with full oil fired heating systems.
